Multispecies Liberation

Multispecies Liberation is the central framework of Pyxis Limethica. It examines relations among diverse beings while critically addressing the structures of domination and oppression embedded within them.

Rather than assuming apolitical entangled coexistence, it foregrounds power asymmetries in entanglements and seeks to transform, dismantle or abolish harmful relations. This involves rethinking the world through the experiences of marginalized human and more-than-human beings, and pursuing decolonization across institutions, knowledge systems, and social relations.

The framework is articulated through three pillars: pluriversal relationalism (ontology), ecologies of knowledge (methodology), and intersectional imaginations (praxis).

THREE PILLARS

Pluriversal Relationalism (Ontology)

Recognizes a multiplicity of worlds grounded in different modes of existence, while critically examining the power relations that shape them and the inequalities they produce.

Ecologies of Knowledge (Methodology)

Challenges the hierarchy between dominant and marginalized forms of knowledge, and promotes dialogue across academic, indigenous, and experiential ways of knowing.

Intersectional Imaginations (Praxis)

Analyzes intersecting structures of power—such as species, gender, race, class, and ability—and seeks to develop embodied ethics and practices that resist and transform oppression.
